Principal’s Message

Dear Richardson Families/ Chères familles,

It is a pleasure and an honour to serve as the Principal of Richardson Elementary School. We are located on the traditional territory of the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations, and of all the Hun’qumi’num people who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial.  We are so grateful to be working and learning on this beautiful land.

Richardson is situated in the central area of North Delta, near many community amenities.  We are located close to North Delta Secondary School, the North Delta Recreation Centre and Community Park, George Mackie Library, the Boys and Girls Club, and the North Delta Safety Building. We have a student population of approximately 340 students, offering both Early French Immersion and regular English K-7 programs.

Richardson is a dynamic place to work, learn and play. Our staff are student-focused, and continuously work on developing a caring, inclusive learning environment where each child has the opportunity to think, to learn, and to be creative.  We would like all of our students to be connected to our land, and to be active, caring citizens of our community.

At Richardson Elementary, we believe that learning is best achieved when there is a strong partnership between the home and the school. As a school staff, we strive to plan meaningful learning programs for our students, and we rely on the support of families and our community to help students achieve success. When staff and families are working together to exchange information, and to collaborate in the learning process, our students experience greater success as learners. Richardson Elementary welcomes families as partners in their children’s learning.

The parent community at Richardson Elementary is supportive, encouraging, and caring. Our Parent Advisory Council is active and meets regularly. They coordinate hot lunch days, fundraisers, and community events, raising funds for the school to support the numerous initiatives, programs and learning spaces at Richardson Elementary. Our parent volunteers work tirelessly to provide enhanced learning experiences, opportunities, and resources to our student body.

In closing, I am pleased to be working with the families of the Richardson community as partners in the learning taking place at our school! Please don’t hesitate to stop by the school and share your thoughts about our school and your hopes for your child’s experience at Richardson Elementary.

Sincerely,

Tina Doukas
